A general rule is to check your home at least twice a year — ideally in autumn and spring — and after any severe weather events.
Minor cosmetic jobs like painting or tightening fittings can often be DIY, but any structural, roofing, or water-related repairs are best left to professionals.
Leaky roofs, rotten timber, damaged weatherboards, blocked gutters, and worn paintwork are among the most frequent problems.
Regularly inspect roofing, gutters, downpipes, and exterior timber for signs of leaks or rot. Addressing issues early is the most effective way to prevent extensive damage.

Yes! Options like bi-folds or stacker sliders create seamless transitions to decks, patios, and gardens, making spaces feel larger and more connected.

Absolutely. Modern aluminium joinery can be tailored to your preferred colour, finish, and hardware style, giving your home a fresh, modern look.
Retaining walls over 1.5 metres high usually require both engineering and council approval in New Zealand. Walls under this height may also need consent if they support a driveway, building, or neighbouring property. We can assess your site and manage all the necessary documentation.
Common options include timber, concrete sleepers, stone, and engineered block systems. The best choice depends on your soil, drainage requirements, and the overall look you want. We’ll recommend a solution that balances durability, cost, and aesthetics.
Very important. Proper drainage is essential to prevent water pressure from building up behind the wall, especially in Northland’s heavy rainfall. We include drainage systems as part of every retaining wall build to ensure long-term strength and stability.
It depends on what you’re wanting to achieve — privacy, security, street appeal, or all three. Timber palings are a classic Kiwi choice, while horizontal slats, aluminium panels, and decorative screens offer a more modern look. We can walk you through the options and recommend what works best for your section and Northland’s coastal conditions.
In most cases, fences under 2 metres high don’t require consent, but there are exceptions — especially near boundaries, pools, or road frontages. We’ll help you check the rules for your specific site and handle any approval requirements if needed.
Most standard residential fences can be completed within a few days, depending on the length, materials, and site conditions. We’ll give you a clear timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout the build.
Timber like pine or kwila is a popular, classic choice, while composite decking offers low maintenance and great durability – especially in coastal or high-UV areas. Pergolas can be built from timber, aluminium or steel depending on the look and performance you want. We’ll recommend materials suited to your home and climate.
It depends on the height, size and design. In NZ, decks over 1.5 metres high usually require consent, and some pergolas or roofed structures may also need approval. We’ll let you know exactly what’s required and can handle the consent process if needed.
Most projects take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the size, design, and whether consents are involved. We’ll give you a clear timeline up front and keep you updated throughout.
Absolutely. We can work with your ideas or help you design a layout that fits your section, lifestyle and budget – whether it’s for entertaining, extra living space, or simply enjoying the sun.
Timber decks generally need cleaning and resealing or oiling every 1–2 years to protect against UV and moisture. Composite decks require much less upkeep, usually just a regular wash. We’ll explain the care needed for whichever material you choose.
Yes. All work is completed to New Zealand building standards, with workmanship guarantees and relevant product warranties, giving you confidence that your deck or pergola is built to last.

Yes – we can guide you on practical layout options, cabinetry styles, benchtop materials, appliances, and smart storage solutions. We’ll help you choose products that suit your lifestyle, budget and the needs of a Kiwi home.
In most cases, kitchen and laundry renovations don’t require building consent unless you’re moving plumbing, altering structural walls, or making significant changes. We can advise you on what’s needed and handle any consent requirements if they apply.
Most bathroom renovations take around 3–4 weeks, depending on the scope of work and product availability. We’ll give you a clear timeline before we begin and keep you updated throughout.
